Working with Clipart object

Clipart object are predefined objects that could be loaded in the Drawing view. The clipart are already advanced image like a building that do not need to be assembled or parts like connectors and chassis that have to be assembled to build a complex object such equipment.

The software uses a fixed directory structure that is visible directly in the object navigator pane.To extend the clipart library you could create other subdirectory at the the /bin/card level and add to it your own clipart files (Emf and Wmf format only. After that, these objects become available and a drag and drop is possible from the object navigator pane to the edit window.


Warning: An Active View Object has an internal link to its associated clipart. This link contains the directory path to the clipart. Clipart should remain imperatively in their original directory. Doing modifications to the directory structure will damage the current defined Active View.

Typically the physical view of all equipment is composed of multiple cliparts objects that have to be imported in the drawing view.

Clipart like other objects could be Active to restore the current state of a directory object or a SNMP OID value. On the upper example each physical port form the router is a clipart with a dynamic behavior. Refer to the case study of this documentation for using cliparts

Working with VU-METER

Vu-meters are a type of clipart objects that have more features than a simple Clipart object. The Vu-meter is able to display the variation of an SNMP variable in a visual analogical meter.

To add this kind of Clipart to an existing view, drag and drop the Analogic meter icon the Object Navigator pane to the drawing window. Next open the property windows and select the clipart symbol. The Vumeter choice opens a window asking you to select a skin for your Vumeter.

In property window under the Vu meter tab you can define the min and max value and add a legend

We choose to enter %CPU as Unit Text

We define the value to display from the Dynamic aspect tab. In the following example with perform a request on the CPU load of a Cisco router. The SNMP request is getipoid defip old-cisco-cpu-mib:busyper that give the CPU load in %. We voluntary choose the clipart vumeter18.emf that has a transparent background. We set two rules, the first set the background as red if the value is upper 80 % the second paint the background in green by default.

The visual result is done below for a 5 % load.

Case of counter type

If the SNMP value if of counter type (always increasing up to the maximum value and wrapping) you should check the Counter type check box within the Dynamic Aspect tab.

The Counter Type is checked. LoriotPro calculates the difference between each polling interval and display the value.

The following Vu-meter informs you that 170 IP datagram have been forwarded by the router during the last 15 seconds.
